Established in 1969, we are a multigenerational family farm based in New Albin, Iowa, with additional locations established in Northeast Iowa and Southeast Minnesota. Our livestock and crop enterprise is home to 2200 Holsteins, 1000 beef cows, 6000 acres of corn and alfalfa and employ close to 45 people. Our southern ranch, based in Fremont, Iowa, was acquired in February 2020, consists of 2,340 contiguous acres and accompanies close to 1000 head of beef cows and an additional 500 head of purebred young stock.
Embryo transfer is the center of our reproductive program, and the majority of our operations are fulfilled internally. Our first ET calf was born in 1983 and today we continue to push the genetic envelope and find outliers through extensive ET/IVF work while remaining disciplined in mating decisions by assessing phenotype, genomics and actual performance to continually improve the weakest traits all while keeping the most important thing in mind for the purebred and commercial cattleman: adding profitability. Take a look around our website- we would love for you to come see our herd, view our bulls, learn about who we are and see the potential value and genetics we have to offer to strengthen your herd’s genetic chain.
"As far as genetics, pick what you want, know what you want, and know what your operation needs. Have an honest conversation with yourself. At the end of the day, accept what you want and be disciplined about it. Select for that time and time again, and you will get it."
- Darin Meyer
